Zambia National Service (ZNS) starts constructing competition venue for WorldSkills Africa Skills Competition in Livingstone

The Zambia National Service (ZNS) has started constructing the competition arena for the World Skills Africa Competition which Zambia will host in Livingstone in April 2025. ZNS is constructing the multi-purpose arena which will host 13 out of the 20 skills competitions which over one thousand youths from different African countries will compete for from 7 to 12 April 2024 at the Livingstone Institute of Business and Engineering Studies (LIBES).

TEVETA trains EIZ members on quality assurance in readiness for joint inspections

To strengthen systems for skills development, TEVETA is building capacity in 20 members of Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ) in standard setting, quality assurance and assessment processes. The EIZ members will become part of the TEVETA inspectorate to enhance quality assurance. 

The 20 are from different engineering backgrounds, various companies and possess a wealth of experiences vital to skills development in the country.

The Committee on Education, Science and Technology of the National Assembly of Zambia today visited TEVETA to appreciate the implementation of the two-tier system and the broad skills development landscape in line with the priority the Government has placed on skills for job and wealth creation.

TEVETA has signed apprenticeship contracts with Bell Equipment Zambia worth K8.4 million in earthmoving equipment. The apprenticeship contracts are in line with the mining sector productivity and energy transition aspirations of the country.

TEVETA Director General, Cleophas Takaiza commended Bell Equipment for taking up a second cohort of apprentices to support the national Work Based Learning (WBL) framework. TEVETA Director General, Cleophas Takaiza has urged local authorities to build capacities of their skills training centres to absorb more youths, help address community skills needs and enhance income generation at different economic levels.

TEVETA signs employer-based training contracts for K70 million

TEVETA has signed work-based training and apprenticeship contracts with 22 employers worth K70 million. The contracts will benefit more than 4, 300 employees in mining, energy (solar and hydro), manufacturing and mineral processing, ICT, and various essential skills.
