Ministry of Technology and Science, Felix Mutati launched the National Youth Skills Empowerment Programme last week in Chongwe with a message to the youths to utilise the opportunity to acquire hands-on and entrepreneurial skills to effectively participate in the economy. The Minister added that Zambia will benchmark skills - proficiency with Germany to deliver an effective multiplier skills training of ten thousand youths across the country by 2026.

The mining industry presents unique challenges to safety. Mine accidents have huge cost implications on the mine and lives of people. Minimising accidents in the mining sector is pivotal for sustained productivity of the sector. A combination of safety practices and skills are highly demanded for improved protection of mining infrastructure, equipment and human resources. The availability of mine rescue skilled persons enhances safety in the mines. However, training mine rescuers has been done outside the country. TEVETA has launched the 2021 to 2026 Strategic Plan. The Plan was launched by the Ministry of Higher Education Permanent Secretary (PS), Ms. Kayula Siame. The development of the Strategic Plan utilised several relevant national programmes and agendas to deduce a sense of direction towards the development of technical and vocational skills for Zambia. Among policy documents and legal frameworks that informed the development of the Strategic Plan included:

1) Vision 2030

2) Seventh National Development Plan (7NDP) 2017 to 2021

3) TEVET Strategy Paper of 1996

2021 Names of Successful Tevet Bursary Applicants Published

The Ministry of Higher Education would like to inform the General Public that the names of success applicants for the 2021 TEVET Bursary Award have been published on the Ministry of Higher Education Website. Successful Applicants will also be notified during the course of next week through text messages, emails and can also check at any of the 29 TEVET institutions.

TEVETA has provided capacity building more than 130 examiners and assessors from different training institutions across the country.
