

TEVETA Zambia, TEVETA Malawi, Don Bosco Zambia and Don Bosco Malawi and European partners from Italy, Finland and Spain have been funded under the #EcoCharge Project in electric vehicles and electric motorbikes known as e-mobility. The #EcoCharge #Project is co-financed by the European Union and Erasmus+ Programme.
Welcoming partners at the kickoff of #EcoCharge Project in Lilongwe, Don Bosco Malawi Principal, Fr. John Musonda said hosting the project kickoff at the training centre was an opportunity position Don Bosco as a leader in e-mobility.
And TEVETA Zambia Director General, Cleophas Takaiza, the partnership under the #EcoCharge #Project aligns with Zambia's green transition and electric motor vehicle subsector development.
"We cannot wait to rollout green technology and decarbonisation to accelerate greening TEVET to realise green jobs in various sectors. We were hit hard by drought, which caused both power and food crisis. Therefore , having relevant green skills is part of developing our resilience to such shocks."
Meanwhile, TEVETA Malawi Director Training Programmes Modesto Gomani, said Malawi was pleased to be part of the project that sought to develop eco-friendly skills. "The project brings expertise from different countries to enrich implementation."
And the Ministry of Labour, Principal Quality Assurance Officer who officially opened the kickoff of the #EcoCharge Project, Simplex Gondwe said the Government of Malawi had prioritized human capital development, which the project was harnessing in line with the national agenda. "We will learn from each other to develop an eco-friendly skills framework that meets our aspirations through this project."
The EcoCharge Project focuses on e-mobility (electric vehicles and electric motor bikes) skills development. Partner countries under the Project are Zambia, Malawi, Italy, Spain and Finland. The Project is co-funded by the European Union and Erasmus+ programme. Malawi and Zambia share many similarities to optimise to improve skills development, especially Competency Based Training and Assessments (CBTA).
TEVETA in Zambia is tapping into expertise from other countries that have advanced TEVET systems to improve the employability of the Zambian workforce.
