The TEVETA Director General, Mr. Cleophas Takaiza has reiterated the Authority’s commitment in upholding the highest standards of integrity and professionalism in all its operations. Mr Takaiza said all staff members should adhere to the set standards and report any instances of non-compliance or unethical behavior.
Speaking during the 2025 Planning, Team Building and the 2021-2026 TEVETA Strategic Plan Review, Mr Takaiza said the Authority was committed to upholding the highest standards of integrity and professionalism in all its operations. The Director General further said in the past three (3) years, the authority faced a number of challenges on quality assurance, curriculum development and assessments due to the high demand for TEVET services.
Pronouncements on skills development and the premium placed on TEVET after 2021, created additional pressure on how the authority conducted business. "We are ligning our Strategic Plan to align it to emerging skills needs and business environment."
Mr. Takaiza said Procurement is a critical aspect of the Authority’s work, and it is essential that TEVETA staff conduct themselves in a manner that is transparent, fair, and compliant with relevant laws and regulations. “Most issues that have taken people to task are related to procurement. The Board made a resolution that all staff must be sensitized to the new procurement procedures, which have been designed to streamline processes, promote transparency and improve overall efficiency,” Mr Takaiza said.
He emphasized that procurement is a collective responsibility and that every staff member has a role to play in ensuring that the procurement processes are conducted in a manner that is transparent, fair, and compliant with relevant laws and regulations. Mr Takaiza also said over the past three years the authority has made significant progress towards its goals and has grown the structure and established one regional office on the Copperbelt Province in Ndola in the Trade Fair grounds.
He added that TEVETA has responded to the challenges of climate change by developing curricula as a contribution to climate resilience and these achievements are a testament to the teams’ capabilities and its collective passion for excellence. "Climate change challenges demanded us to develop relevant curricula to mitigate their impact across economic sectors. We thus developed a number of curricula in climate change resilience. We also developed digital platforms to reduce our environmental footprint and improve the cost of doing business."
Mr Takaiza said throughout the event the staff were engaging in team-building activities, workshops, and discussions designed to foster collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking. He said the hard work by all members of staff had been instrumental in driving the success of TEVETA and that he was honored to lead such a talented and committed team.
