TEVETA Invitation for Training Proposals

TEVETA invites registered training institutions to submit proposals for financing under the TEVET Fund to deliver skills training for MSMEs and the informal economy. Submit five (5) copies in a sealed envelope clearly marked with the institution name and the funding window by Friday, 21 November 2025 at 15:00hrs. Terms of Reference have been emailed to all TEVET-registered institutions and are also available at www.teveta.org.zm.

Minister of Technology and Science, Felix Mutati said there is need for Competence Based Training (CBET) in skills training to ensure that the graduates were adequately trained to contribute to national development.

Mr. Mutati said it was unfortunate that some students who were undertaking skills training that required hands-on learning did not have contact with equipment during their training, hence complaints from industry that they are unable to deliver despite their academic qualifications.

70 apprentices leave for advanced skills training in Zimbabwe

The Minister of Technology and Science, Felix Mutati this morning sent off 70 apprentices to Zimbabwe for advanced skills in programmes not offered at higher level locally.

The 70 will undergo apprenticeship training at Harare Polytechnic in Construction Engineering, Garment Construction, Beauty Therapy, Irrigation Engineering and Refrigeration. The apprentices hold Level 4 and3 Certificates of the Zambia Qualifications Framework (ZQF). Harare Polytechnic is a renowned regional centre of excellence in Competence-Based Education and Training (CBET).

TEVETA has sponsored eight (8) lecturers to undergo specialised training in Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machining at the Production Technologies Association of South Africa (PtSA) Centre of Excellence in toolmaking and machining.

TEVETA signs contracts for 126 apprentices in tourism and hospitality

To increase workforce employability in the tourism and hospitality sector, TEVETA has signed contracts for 126 apprentices in different skill areas. The contracts were signed with Falls Park Hotel Limited, Minor Hotels Zambia Limited, Protea Hotels Zambia, Safari Par Excellence Limited and David Livingstone.

Speaking during the employer-based training contract signing, TEVETA Board Chairperson, Ngoza Nkwabilo said the signed apprenticeship and employer-based training contracts with various companies marked a pivotal collective commitment to bridging workers’ skills gaps and driving sustained economic growth and business resilience.
