TEVETA has sponsored eleven (11) trainers in Electrical Weaving, Machine Operation and Maintenance in China. The training is supporting utilisation of modern equipment procured in selected institutions in the programme.

The specialised training will develop trainers’ technical competencies and hands-on experience to improve the quality and relevance of training delivery in the sector. 

The trainers will undertake the programme at Chengdu Qinggong Polytechnic University, a leading institution renowned for its expertise in textile education, innovation and industry-focused training. Chengdu Qinggong Polytechnic University was established in 1939 to specialise in textile education and training. 

The training is part of the TEVET Fund interventions to develop relevant capacity in trainers to deliver quality training that aligns with industry needs. Electrical Weaving strengthens the textile industry by improving efficiency and productivity in the textile and fashion sectors. It increases production efficiency and improving product quality.

Electrical weaving skills reduce reliance on imported fabrics and promote local manufacturing. It also reduces reliance on imported fabrics and promotes local manufacturing. The programme also addresses industry-identified skills gaps in Computer-Aided Design (CAD), pattern making and grading.

Others areas it addresses are technical garment specifications (tech packs) development for effective stitching, trimming and other garment construction details. 

The TEVET Fund continues to play a crucial role in closing skills gaps and supporting economic growth, job creation and industrial development.
