VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

The Technical Education, Vocational and Entrepreneurship Training Authority (TEVETA) is a body corporate established under the Technical Education, Vocational and Entrepreneurship Training (TEVET) Act No. 13 of 1998 and the TEVET (Amendment) Act No. 11 of 2005.

TEVETA was established to regulate, monitor and co-ordinate Technical Education, Vocational and Entrepreneurship Training in consultation with industry, employers, workers and other stakeholders.

TEVETA wishes to recruit a qualified and experienced Zambian to fill the following vacant position.

1. SYSTEMS DEVELOPER X 1

2. OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE JOB

To be responsible for the analysis, design, development, and implementation of systems and applications for internal and external use for the Authority. In addition, the role is tasked with providing advanced post implementation support for the deployed systems and applications.

3. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Your duties and responsibilities will include:
a) Design, develop, implement, and maintain systems/applications.
b) System analysis and debugging of systems.
c) End-user interfacing for the purpose of design and implementation of systems and trouble-shoot problems with existing systems.
d) Prepare reports for management and other stakeholders.
e) Proactively learn and utilize new technologies, concepts, and procedures as appropriate to project requirements.
f) Provide technical input to other areas and gather technical data from outside organizations.
g) Plan and execute testing and implementation of major systems.
h) Establish project plans and project management guidelines.
i) Continually updating technical knowledge and skills by attending in-house and external training, reading manuals and accessing new applications.
j) Carries out any other duties assigned.


4. JOB REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Qualifications:

a) Grade 12 Certificate or equivalent
b) Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or any related field.
c) Experience in software development methodologies and environments.
d) Background in technologies such as client-server architectures, relational database management systems, object-oriented development, and distributed object development.
e) Applications analysis and design experience.
f) Professional Members to relevant body

5. RELEVANT SKILLS/COMPETENCIES

These include:

a) Programming languages such as PHP, Angular and JavaScript.
b) MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle or any other Relational Database Management System.
c) Ubuntu, Red Hat or any other Linux Administration and Management of Systems.
d) Evidence of several projects or systems development the developer has been part of.
e) Ability to communicate with clients, colleagues and management to explain complex issues clearly
f) A logical, analytical and creative approach to problems.

6. RELEVANT EXPERIENCE

Two (2) years relevant experience
