The Ministry of Technology and Science has awarded Technical Education, Vocational and Entrepreneurship Training (TEVET) bursaries to 13,686 students for the 2026 academic year. The successful beneficiaries were selected from a total of 14,226 applicants. This marks a significant investment in skills development and youth empowerment across the country.

The bursary scheme is designed to support deserving students with financial difficulties to pursue skills training in various priority sectors of the economy.

Permanent Secretary, Dr. Brilliant Habeenzu, announced the development in a statement, reiterating the Ministry’s dedication to strengthening the country’s human capital base through increased access to quality skills training.

He said the bursary programme remains a key intervention in equipping young people with industry-relevant competencies that respond to national development needs.

“The Ministry of Technology and Science remains committed to sponsoring skills development in the country for all potential learners,” Dr. Habeenzu said. He added that empowering youths with practical and entrepreneurial skills was critical to job creation, productivity and economic transformation.

The successful applicants have since been advised to proceed with registration at their respective TEVET colleges to secure their places for the 2026 academic year. Institutions are expected to facilitate a smooth registration process to ensure that students begin their studies without delay.

The TEVET bursary scheme plays a vital role in supporting training in key sectors such as agriculture, mining, manufacturing, construction, ICT, tourism and other growth industries aligned with Zambia’s development priorities. Investing in TEVET is aimed increasing workforce employability, promote entrepreneurship and reduce youth unemployment.

The 2026 bursary awards represent another milestone in the Ministry’s broader agenda of making skills training more accessible, inclusive and responsive to labour market demands.
